Evonik is selling selected production assets for pharmaceutical ingredients in Hanau, Germany to the contract manufacturer ProChem Group. By acquiring the facilities, the ProChem Group will strengthen its production capabilities, enhance its technological expertise, and expand its services to pharmaceutical customers.
Evonik’s Health Care business is streamlining its asset footprint to focus investment and growth in its core areas of expertise. These include advanced oral and injectable drug delivery technologies and precision biosolutions such as lipids for mRNA and gene delivery, and advanced cell‑culture ingredients.
“Refining our focus and aligning our assets enables us to deliver even more strongly in the areas where we create the highest value for our customers,” said Guido Skudlarek, head of the Health Care business line.
Evonik’s Hanau site has long supported the pharmaceutical industry with a portfolio of APIs, intermediates, and pharmaceutical lipids. As part of the Health Care business’s growth strategy, the company discontinued its keto acid production in Hanau at the end of 2025. The entire portfolio of pharmaceutical-grade keto and amino acids is now consolidated under the brand REXIM at Evonik sites in Wuming, China and in Ham, France.
