Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCU) is one of the best colleges in the nation to work for, according to the Great Colleges to Work For program. The results, released in a special insert of The Chronicle of Higher Education, are based on a two-part assessment process: an institutional questionnaire that captures objective employment data and workplace policies from each institution, and a survey administered to faculty, administrators, and professional support staff. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was the employee feedback.
"At SCU, being a great place to work is essential to fueling innovation and successfully navigating change in higher education and healthcare. Achieving this recognition is both humbling and affirming, reflecting our commitment to a Whole Health culture—one where people feel empowered to contribute their best ideas, collaborate across disciplines, and move our mission forward together," said SCU President Dr. John Scaringe.
For a third consecutive year, SCU was also named to the Great Colleges Honor Roll, an elite status granted to the colleges that rank among the highest in certain recognition categories. SCU received that Honor Roll distinction in six areas:
"This recognition reflects the heart of who we are as a Whole Health University," said Provost Dr. Tamara Rozhon. "We try to model Whole Health inside and outside the classroom by nurturing well-being, belonging, and purpose within our faculty, staff, and students. When our community feels supported and valued, excellence in teaching, learning, and discovery naturally follows."
